Vesicoureteral Reflux Update
Kinsley’s VCU test at Children’s Hospital last week was successful. Kinsley did wonderfully. She didn't even flinch or cry. I got to watch the monitor in the back of the room while the test was being done and her Dad stood by her side holding her hand.
I just kept telling Kinsley all week how strong and brave she is. I was worried she was going to lose it with the tube insertion but she did really well. She squeezed her Dad’s hand really hard and turned into my neck. She did so well throughout and we didn’t hear a peep out of her.
I was very impressed with Children's Hospital. They had an educator hanging out with us to talk about the procedure, showed Kinsley on a doll what they were going to do, showed us pictures in a book, and had Kinsley point to the pictures. Kinsley was well informed about how this procedure would work.
Inside the room the educator blew bubbles with her, read her a story, and talked about the test some more. I could not have asked for a better experience considering how invasive this particular test is. I am pleased with how it all turned out.
We had our follow-up with the urologist two days later to discuss the renal ultrasound results. When we went in they checked her urine again but this time there was no UTI. What a relief. Her bladder and both her kidneys are good to go, too.
Kinsley doesn’t have Vesicoureteral Reflux!!!
It really means a lot to me that all of you prayed for us.
